Do you feel the need of redesigning the LinkedIn profile dashboard?
I really need it, help me …#LinkedIn
trust me, I feel it can be much better especially for job seekers, just ‘Open To Work’ isn't enough for many including me,
Let me share with you how do I feel and tried with my thoughts around it,
Referred Materials: starred linked In profile screens continuously, sigh🙆🏻
The very first,
Why do we use LinkedIn?
…tell me your reasons in comments or DM, I love connecting with people :)
Personal Purpose:
- To build a sound professional network
- To connect with people who can help in career or help others in career
Business Purpose:
- To hunt skilled and validated professionals
Points to ponder:
- Hiding ‘Open To Work’ status from current employer and Colleagues, and associations with choice
- For personal view In ‘Open To Work’ status: Job Application Status: applied, updates from Recruiter, feedback with selection update, referral
- Introduce referral feature
- Why should take a skill quiz? there is none for UX design ☹️
- For public view: highlight the recent update in profile with a go-to link to that section
- For Public View: Giving Recommend / Endorse option to common organizations (i.e. worked in the same company)
I feel changing the order of sections can help a lot here, take a pause and look at the current order here,
You might feel I am acknowledging ‘Open To Work’ needs more, well Probably yes I am emotional now, but please see how I will propose my approach to #LinkedIn,
‘Recommendations’ should be above work experience, for me to feel good about having one on my profile, and for recruiters or everyone else to feel good about me ;)
Here’s what my 24*7 teacher/guide gave me, and he isn’t kidding while doing this for me, (p.s. feel free to endorse me or recommend me, because it’s FREE good feeling to share :D ) Thank you 💚
If you see a profile with ‘open to work’ status:
To help & increase visibility, this FREE (again) and kind deed should be encouraged, appreciated, yeah?
- Send Referral: search companies/hiring connections with profile link included,
- Add Recommendations,
- Endorse their skills
- And if you are the one who needs it, ask for recommendations, referrals, endorsements from people you worked with.
Freshly in my thought bubble:
- Giving Recommend / Endorse option to common organizations (i.e. worked in the same company)
And Some personalization while seeing my own profile, will feel so cool, i.e. in the activity section, instead of ‘Poonam shared this’
And a little visually appealing ‘Skills & Endorsement’ section, imagine the colorful ellipses being a profile pictured wrapped in circles below,
And having one ‘Job Application Board’ would be superrr helpful !!
, and how about having My Activity as a slider with a neat bifurcation of my posts, shares, comments & mentions, reactions (likes, celebrates, supports, etc)
Collapsable long writeups in any section, i.e. Volunteer Experience, About, Work Experience, etc would be good too,
I mean, If you want to read it, you will read it, isn't it mostly like this?
Visualize the below sections with me until they catch #LinkedIn’s attention to updating UI ;)
… I‘m not done yet, will keep updating this until I get onboarded as UX Designer through LinkedIn, your support (referral, recommendation, endorsement), and my keen efforts to write and design better :)
I’m the user, primary persona, for this little case study on LinkedIn Profile dashboard Redesign, and I am eagerly waiting to join a good design team.
I surprisingly write better sometimes, If this wasn’t the one you like, read this one, and clap clap clap….
My father gave me a UX case study idea!
My intro time now,
